Spamshield Application

Welcome to Furtopia Spamshield! This service was designed as a method to:

1. Keep spammers from spidering and harvesting your email address off the internet and selling it to bulk marketers.

2. Block all automated spam from reaching your inbox!

3. Give members a SAFE email address to use/post on the internet without the fear of spammer exploitation.

How it works!

Furtopia Spamshield is available to all members with a Furtopia hosted website or LINK.

In function, Spamshield gives the member a Furtopia ( yourname@furtopia.net ) email address that forwards to one of your existing email addresses. Before forwarding the Furtopia email address will filter automated messages/spam. It does this by "checking" its' list of GOOD known email addresses. If a new email address comes in it does not recognize, Spamshield will place a message on hold while sending the originator a notice that Spamshield does not recognize their email address. If they follow the directions and reply with the CODE sent to them, Spamshield will add their email address to its' list of GOOD emails and all future emails from that source will come through un-hindered.

Getting the most use out of Spamsheild: The usefulness, for our members, of this project becomes apparent when you understand the tactics of spammers. Many spammers spider/scan websites to harvest emails and to sell. By getting a Furtopia Spamshield address you may use that address publicly on the internet and on your website where spammers might find your email address while saving your personal unprotected email address for the convienience of friends and other trusted sources.

NOTE: It is recommended (but not required), that you redirect your Furtopia Spamshield address to a new email address spammers do not have. If you use an existing email address that the spammers already are using to send you spam, they can continue to do so by bypassing your Spamshield email address. By posting your Spamshield address publicly you can protect, and keep, spammers from finding your new email address.

Use of Furtopia Spamsheild is a service and a priviledge given to our members. It is designed STRICTLY to protect you from spam but NOT to hide someone's identity. To keep the spirit of this service for shielding spam ONLY notice is given that Furtopia has the right to reveal a protected email address on request if Furtopia feels a member has abused this service.
